In for a penny and all that - the thought of replacing the standard GT6 steering column bushes (again) !!!!
Anyway going to use a complete Volvo steering column/ignition barrel so only problem is attaching it the the GT6 rack
So easy mod really - cut down the existing shaft
Chop a bit of the out sleave from where the clap is - which happens to have the same o/d as the Volvo steering knuckle - less a machine flat
Tig the 2 together having machine a groove in the shaft to make sure the weld really penetrates into the shaft
Tickle it round with the tig
Jobs a gooden - just need my mate to sort out machining a flat so as it inserts into the Volvo steering knuckle - job done
